If feeling is first

I like to appreciate the beautiful things in life. You know, the ones that make you feel.

Here's one from last night. Ingrid's cover of Nightswimming by R.E.M.

Fall never overstays its welcome

This past week has been full of wonderful fall treasures. I took a drive through the canyon, to stare in awe at the leaves, with a good friend (as we do every year). I made a pumpkin floral design in lab today. I went to a halloween party. I saw Ingrid Michaelson in concert (not necessarily fall related, but still important). All of this leading up to...a blizzard tonight. This is the time of year when I begin to pick a fight with Utah.

Autumn is my favorite. And winter always gets greedy and takes it away before I realize it was even here.

Picture this

This is one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken. It was taken with a disposable camera in the field by Neighborhood Market. I don't know if it's the sunset, or that it captures them perfectly or that they happen to be standing in order by height. I don't know if it's because these people mean so much to me or because it reminds me perfectly of perfect Arkansas nights. But whatever it is, it's beautiful.

Sometimes I think
we could have gone on.
All of us. Trying. Forever.

But they didn't fill the desert with pyramids.
They just built some. Some.

They're not still out there,
building them now. Everyone,
everywhere, gets up, and goes home.

Yet we must not
Diabolize time. Right?
We must not curse the passage of time.

Study Habits

Jordie and I made a date with the library tonight, and things may have gotten a little out of hand.

Let's just say...we still have a lot of studying to do.

Daddy's Girl

I've always been a daddy's girl.

I think it's because we are so similar. And because we are always laughing and joking around. And because he is the best person that I know.

That is why this weekend I've been loving life. Because on Thursday night I picked him up from the airport and we've been inseparable since. I rarely get to talk to him, much less see him. This is such a treat.

It's so refreshing to have him here.
